Help us document Song for Pittsburgh performances, win membership to Pittsburgh Filmmakers
At high noon on Sunday, April 21, five vocalists will perform Song for Pittsburgh, an ode to the Steel City and its people written and composed by artist Jennifer Nagle Myers.
Calling all video makers, aspiring or otherwise. We need your help to capture five simultaneous performances of Song for Pittsburgh, a song written by artist Jennifer Nagle Myers for the city and the people of Pittsburgh.
Positioned in different neighborhoods across the city including the Central Northside, East Liberty, and Downtown, Song for Pittsburgh will fill the air with performances by Tessa Barber, Ricardo Iamuuri, John Carson, Ian Bonnet, Dani Lamorte, and a mystery singer.
In the artist’s own words:
Song for Pittsburgh will be sung by the five-member Song for Pittsburgh Choir and I hope it will also be sung by you. At the same time, on the same day, the same song will be sung by people all over the city as a way to connect across the divides inherent to our cities and the people who inhabit them. It is a fleeting gesture of connectivity, creativity, and play.
This project is part one of a new series of work Pittsburgh Public Actions 2013 – an initiative I’m developing to provide free public performances throughout the city in a variety of modes and means.
